As part of Neurodiversity Celebration Week, I had the incredible experience of watching The Stimming Pool, a film co-created by the Neurocultures Collective and director Steven Eastwood. Unlike any film I’ve seen before, it challenges conventional storytelling, immersing us in neurodivergent perspectives in a thought-provoking way.

The Stimming Pool offers an authentic representation of autistic experiences—eschewing traditional narrative structures for something fluid, sensory-driven, and deeply human. It invites us into a space that values autistic joy over neurotypical expectations, celebrating the neurospicy ways of experiencing the world.
The film’s baton-passing structure takes us on a journey through different spaces, some chaotic and overwhelming, others offering quiet respite.
This week is about shifting perspectives—challenging misconceptions and celebrating neurodiversity.
